St. George’s Day is the perfect day to celebrate all things British and what it means to be British. St. George’s Day is on April 23rd. However, this day [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] is not a public holiday in Britain as St. Patrick’s Day is in Ireland. It is celebrated in at least 10 other countries. St. George is the patron saint of England.
This day could also be an opportunity to eat British food such as steak and kidney pie, fish and chips, bubble and squeak or bangers and mash. Car shows of British designers could be held as part of the day’s activities. For example, a car show of the astra [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] vxr or of the Vauxhall Insignia VXR. Fashion shows and parades with people driving an Astra VXR could show [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] all things British. Therefore, with proper planning St. George’s Day can be celebrated in such a way to rival any St. Patrick’s Day celebration.
George was a soldier in the [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] army of the Emperor Diocletian. The emperor made a proclamation in 302 AD that all soldiers that were Christians should be arrested and everyone should offer a [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] sacrifice to the pagan gods. George went to the Emperor and [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] declared himself to be a Christian and refused the bribes the emperor tempted him with to convert. After having him tortured, the emperor had George beheaded because he would not worship the emperor’s gods. The date of George’s death was April 23rd.
This is something that must change. St. George’s Day is the perfect [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] day to celebrate all things British. From British food, to fashion, or even British customs. It would be a great idea if this day could be made into a public holiday and all over England parties were held in neighbourhoods [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] for everyone to take part.

St. George’s Day: Let’s Celebrate
Some of us have all taken part in St. Patrick’s Day festivities, but what if there was [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] an equivalent day to celebrate being British and what it means to be British? Of course there is… St. George’s Day!
During the St. George’s Day celebrations many people [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] hang St. George cross flags on their home windows and astra vxr cars. Yet even though the day is a celebratory time, it is not celebrated at the same level as St. Patrick’s Day.
17 March, 461 AD is the day of his death and by the 1600s this day was considered a feast day by church officials in Ireland. By the year 1903, this [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] day was considered a public holiday in Ireland. Not only is this day celebrated within Ireland, but many countries around the world take part in St. Patrick’s Day festivities and celebrate all things Irish.
