Great players learn to play on their strengths and base theirgames on their strengths and they win the most by NOT deviatingfrom what they do best, whatever that is.? That is the secret!Remember Boris "BOOM BOOM!" Becker? Now imagine if Ion Tiriac orBobby Brett had told Boris, "Boris, you have a great 1st servebut, you need to get a much higher percentage of first servesin".... you get the idea, we would never had gotten to know"BOOM BOOM" Becker and he probably would never had won Wimbledoneither!
- From point one get ahold of his opponents and rattle themwith his sheer physical power and never let go. Like JimmyConnors use to do with his strokes.

- Use his biggest weapons at all time, be it big first services, big second serves or serve and volley occasionally.

- The risk-taking forcing second service [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] (when he first cameonto the scene his second serve was a weapon, today it is?not!).? Remember how Pete Sampras used is second serve as aweapon!
Top class players learn to compensate or hide their weaknessesthe best they can sometimes even [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] with ruses! For example, youproblably may not remember an Italian player called CorradoBarazzutti, but the his ploy was to look like a loser to you,act like a loser, look [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] miserable, despondent, get down onhimself.? He? walked with his head slightly down almost insidehis stooped shoulders, all in all he was the antithesis of Dr.James E. Loehr (famous sports psychologist), stay positive, Ilove the battle, pumping fists, agressive, mighty fighter fullof adreneline type. But, boy you miss a bit and Corrado "Mamamia" Barrazutti took you to the cleaners and you were on thenext airplane home or to the next tournament. Corrado was agreat competitor and athlete. He made it to the respectablecareer ATP high ranking of 7 in the World with many brilliantwins!
Finally, in the grand slams he has to be able to do this at alltimes 3 sets in a row or 5 intercalated if he is forced to. Heneeds to decrease [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] the amount of rounds with long five setmatches to 3 sets. [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] He also has to increase the level of hisself-belief, concentration and general stamina!

- When attacking go 85% of the [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] times up the line use very fewcross court approaches.

- Go to the net and mix the approach shots with short fades ordisguised drop-shots and mix solid volleying withdrop-angled-volleys.
Easier said then done, but I believe that the young man can doit!

For over 20 years now many Coaches and National TennisFederations around the world, decided to develop players theeasy way, with one-mode robot like baseline tennis. Fortunately2 players survived this onslaught and have kept the interestalive in the serve and volley all court game, Pete Sampras andRoger Federer with Andy Roddick in a grey zone between these twogreat players.
Then Sergio what's the secret? There is a simple secret:?
With Andy Roddick it would be foolish to tinker with the core ofhis game at this point of his career.? Those things (weak partsof his game) will better themselves as he grows as aprofessional, practices and gets smarter, eg. experience andmore self-confidence.? Nevertheless the weaker parts of his gamewill always be "weaknesses".?
- Stop playing 15 feet behind the baseline! Play 3 to 6 feetfrom the baseline and get inside the court at every opportunityhe gets and hit the big forehand WINNERS! Never give up aninch!
- Return closer to [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] the baseline and darn it, he must get insidethe court on those second serves pound them or go to the net andput some kind of pressure on the other guys serves (chip &charge you name it!).

Due to that one dimensional teaching of tennis by coaches andfederations,, today everyone that faces Roger has the jitters. They have no answers or solutions for the challenges Rogerpresents. This has awakened every expert in the world to talkwonders about the "all court game"!? The very same game that20/30 years ago they themselves almost killed with new rules, heavier balls, bigger balls, slower balls etc...and by followingcertain "tennis gurus" with poor coaching/development examplesor tennis knowledge. Remember that everyone turned their backson the teachings of a great Master of the all court training thelate Harry Hopman "".
- The punishing shots inside the court. Today Andy is playing80% of his aggressive or defensive shots 12 to 15 feet behindthe baseline!? He basicly runs unecessary miles that take awaymuch needed energy for further winning matches and for a longtennis season.
-The punishing aces (he hits a lot less aces now then 4 or 5years ago!).
Now back to Andy Roddick; all these technical Coaching trials atbettering [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] his backhand or his volleys or his returns are purelymaking him lose confidence.... now everyone is talking aboutAndy Roddick developing a more all court game! Amen! PeteSampras was saying that with his game style to all coaches for15 years!
What does Roddick need to do? Forget about the Coaching and theexperts! Go with his instincts, his power game, his naturalstrengths:
Now to our young friend Andy Roddick, coaching and over coachinghas taken away from Andy Rodick what were his greatest tools andwhat I call his core strengths or weapons:
- Never worry about the volley, if he gets inside the court, hewill get easy enough put away volleys.?
If you all remember Stefen Edberg had a "poor forehand" and anot so good forehand [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] volley!? The same was for Jimmy Connorswith his "poor mid-court low forehand" and "weak serve", or withGuillermo Villas "no serve" and weak volleys, or Michael Changtrying to get a "Bigger service" all his career and last, IvanLendl trying to stop being a "chicken" or to better his volleysto win Wimbledon (I guess Lendl should have let Tony Rochevolley for him at Wimbledon when needed!...not to mention themental debacle [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] in 1989 at Rolland [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] Garros).? Yet, these playersturned out to be great champions even though those weaknessesfollowed and pestered them throughout their careers.
- Take control of the center of [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] the tennis court and of thematch; mentally, physically and with his shots.
